Ahead of the November 16 governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reviewed the party’s cost of nomination forms for governorship position from five million naira to twenty million naira. According to the party, the increase is as a result of the rising cost of printing and logistics. PDP came to this decision on Thursday at its 86th emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting which held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. Spokesperson to the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan told journalists that proceeds from the sales of forms to aspirants will help the party to cover the cost of conducting free and fair primaries for contestants. Ologbondiyan further noted that the party has also set up an investigation panel to probe what happened at the National Assembly leadership elections where some members of the PDP allegedly voted against the party’s preferred candidates.
